Abstract

Abstract — Failover and Load Balance are needed to handle disaster on the server. Failover has a function as a backup system when the main system is interrupted. Whereas load balance functions as a server balancer when a request from a client causes overload on one of the servers when the traffic is not balanced. In this study analyze the comparative advantages and disadvantages of the three load balancing and failover methods, namely Equal Cost Multi Path (ECMP), Nth, and Per Connection Classifier (PCC). These three methods will be implemented in a virtual network topology using two ISPs using Winbox software and MikroTik RB-941-2nD-TC. Testing is done using Webstress Tools, Internet Download Manager (IDM), Ping Tools. The results showed the PCC method because classifying connection traffic in and out of the router into several groups. This grouping can be distinguished by src-address, dst-address, src-port and dst-port. Mikrotik will remember the gateway path that has been passed at the beginning of the connection traffic. So that the next data packet that is still related will pass on the same gateway path as the previous data packet that was sent.
